ABOUT MAMBU BADU
Mambu Badu is a photography collective that seeks to find, expose, and nurture emerging female photographers of African descent.
“Mambu Badu” is an adaptation of the Swahili phrase “Mambo Bado” which is loosely translated as “the best has yet to come.” At this moment, we dwell in an exciting space of possibility where we can grow as artists. We invite other female photographers of black/African descent to join us in this journey. We are approaching our art and this collective with a humble heart, a curious nature, and a persevering spirit.

We invite you to submit your work for our second publication. There is no planned theme for this issue; we’re looking for collage, conceptual, documentary and all work in between. Please submit the following byDecember 20, 2011 January 5, 2012 at 11:59PM EST to our Submittable site:
A complete body of work (8-14 images), in either jpg or gif format.
IMAGE FILE SPECIFICATIONS:
1. JPGS at 72ppi and 700 pixels FOR THE LONGEST EDGE – For a horizontal picture = width, for a vertical picture = height
2. Please “save for web” OR make each file under 200kbs they will only be online and so do not need to be large files.
3. Please do NOT incude borders or watermarks.
FILE NAMING:
Please name the files with your FIRST name and LAST INITIAL and a number. No spaces, dashes or non-number or letters. Example for Letecia Sanchez: LeteciaS1.jpg, LeteciaS2.jpg etc
COVER LETTER:
In the cover letter field, please provide a concise description of your series. Please do not exceed 350 words.
